About us

My family moved to acreage when I was 9. We had our first chickens, ducks, dogs, and ponies. The new experience with animals was exciting and wonderful, but we had a lot of learning to do; the kind you can only get by doing. We lost animals due to predators, disease, and sometimes no apparent reason. It was a shock to us and many tears were shed over the animals we spent so much time with. Even still, the joy outweighed the pain.

In 7th grade I had a hurtful experience at school, losing friends and falling into a depression. My dad took me to the auction, where we bought the two spunkiest, tiniest baby goats ever. I LOVED taking care of them. Recognizing how I needed something to love, my parents let me take the lead on their care and I spent hours bottle feeding, training, and playing with those two little does.

Over the years I’ve had many animals, from puppies to pigs, calves to cats. I of course brought many of them wherever I went. It makes me happy to watch the surprise and joy my animals create. Throughout history we have had domesticated agricultural animals around us on a daily basis. I want to fill the space that we deeply miss. I want to reach more people, visiting homes, schools, parks, and workplaces. I want to bring the barn to you.
